Sad events these few days

Chinese New Year is coming soon.. but then two of my colleagues lost their family members.
One of them lost her father in-law last week, while another one lost her grandmother this morning. What a coincidence.
so, it means that my ang pow level is not gonna be as much as I have expected. (I'm just kidding)
Anyway, it's quite sad I guess. Besides losing their loved ones, they can't celebrate CNY, because things like this happen.
And one thing, my website is down till after CNY. Argh! I hate this kind of things. I am losing money...
But I think everything happened for a reason. (yes, I gotta find out what's wrong with my host provider)
My prayers goes to them. Amen.

CheeKui.com is down!

Argh. My website at www.CheeKui.com is down right now. Sigh. My host provider said the technician is on leave and he's trying to solve the prob by himself. It's probably gonna be up and running again after CNY. Sigh...
Anyway, Happy Chinese New Year!

Chinese New Year!

CNY is coming soon! And I gotta help the my boss to pack the lime and decorate the office cos the aunties and uncles are coming to have some buffet.
Here are some photos I wanna show to you.

And the other day I gotta help to pack the red packets too..
p/s: There's a lot of money in there. Ahaks!

Well, I wanna wish everyone a Happy Chinese New Year. May you have a prosperous year ahead.

Chinese New Year

Wow.. Chinese New Year (CNY) is coming soon. My boss is gonna distribute ang pow to everyone this monday. =) I don't know how much I am going to get. But I am not expecting too much. Lol.
This year, I am going to celebrate my CNY in Singapore. I am planning to get some cool photos from Chinatown tonight.
Rampai and I went to Jurong Point last night. He bought a new MP3 Player, Creative Brand. This is the 3rd one that he bought. The first one, he sold it to his friend and he earn S$10 for the songs inside. If I were him, I would have get a profit of S$100. Haha... it requires effort to get the songs in you know.
Right now, there's Pasar Malam at the Boon Lay MRT station. Went there last night and bought something. There's a lot of things to buy.
Well, hopefully everything will be as planned. My brother still haven't give me the photos I requested. Sigh. Slow...
Desmond has been kind enough to give me some photos to be featured in my webpage about Miri. Trying to come up with descriptions about them now.. Will upload a new page about Miri after I am done.

Tips to identify travel bargain/scam...

I was browsing some interesting articles from ArticleJoe.com, and this one looks very interesting.
You would want to read this if you're planning to get a travel agency's help.

Travel Bargain Or Travel Scam? How To Know The Difference by Jolana Klobouk

Congratulations!!! You have been selected to win an exciting luxury vacation to.......

Where have you heard that one before? Although there are many genuine travel offers, there are also many travel scams that defraud innocent travelers out of millions of dollars each month. Travel is a big ticket item and most people would like to save some money or even travel for free. Unfortunately, it opens the door to some unscrupulous individuals and companies who try to take advantage of this.

Travel packages turn out to be very different from what was originally offered or what the “winner” expected. Sometimes, the company just takes the money and runs! So if you get a phone call or email offering a free or extremely low-priced vacation , keep these tips in mind:

The Most Common Travel Scams

- Emails, phone calls, or snail mail advising that you have been selected to “win” a free vacation, free airfare, or a hotel stay, especially when you haven't entered anything.

- Ads for great travel deals or discounts with the condition that you agree to a time share presentation. You will be subjected to a high pressure sales pitch that is really not worth your time - unless of course you really are interested in buying a timeshare!

- Travel clubs that charge a fee for their great travel discounts and offers. There are of course may legitimate travel clubs but there are just as many that are not. Do your research well to make sure it is worth it.

- Contests which do not post or provide rules or requirements or even any details about the company running it. A legitimate contest will provide rules to participants and if it does not, it is probably just a ploy to get information on you.

How to Spot the Red Flags

- Does the price seem too good to be true? If so, it probably is.

- Are you pressured to make a decision on the spot?

- Did you get the call after business hours. Legitimate businesses normally operate between regular business hours.- Did they require you to pay before you receive any details about the trip, or ask you to pay for more information.- Are you told you can’t leave for two months? This should be cause for concern because the deadline for disputing a credit card charge is 60 days. - Is the supplier simply identified as "a major airline," or a “popular hotel” without getting into specifics?

- If you have won a free vacation, you should not be asked to pay hundreds of dollars in order to “claim” your prize.

How to protect yourself from Travel Scams

- Determine the complete cost of the trip in dollars, including all service charges, taxes, processing fees, etc.

- Pay by credit card, if you don't get what you paid for, you may be able to dispute the charges with your credit card company.

- Don't be pressured into buying anything, legitimate businesses don't pressure you to make a purchase.

- Get a receipt in writing. If you make reservations online, print out the itinerary and receipt.

- Find out the exact names of the hotels, airports, airlines, and restaurants that your package includes; if they tell you a "major hotel chain" or "major airline" ask for specifics

- Always ask for a copy of the cancellation and refund policies.- If you are told that you've won a free vacation, ask if you have to pay any money in order to get it.

- Be aware of what "subject to availability" means may not get the accommodations you want when you want them.

- Be aware that if you have been “specially selected to receive our Super Duper Travel Deal offer" doesn't mean you'll get it free, it means you'll be offered an opportunity to pay for a travel deal!

And last but not least, be skeptical. Read or listen to carefully what is being said, not what you want to hear. We would all like to win that all expenses paid dream vacation to Hawaii, but like everything else, you get what you pay for if you don’t pay attention first.

How To Keep Yourself Healthy While Traveling by Susan Wong

Have you ever planned a trip weeks or maybe months in advance, but when the time comes to have fun, you get sick during the journey and have to spend your time alone in the hotel room? Of course, this is something that no one wants to experience. In this article, I will share with you a few tips for keeping yourself healthy at all times during your travels to prevent this unfortunate scenario from happening!

First, by doing some biking, aerobics or long walks, one is able to condition the muscles for those long tours. By obtaining information on the weather or climate so as to pack the right clothes for the trip and the condition of the drinking water are just some examples one can also work on. By purchasing water purification tablets before going to a place with suspect water sources, one is able to avoid getting any sickness from the water.

If one is taking medication, it is best to pack sufficient stock for the trip and must also check if the medication one is carrying is allowed in the place where one is going to avoid any problems with customs.

It is best to have a good meal before going on a long trip. Check-ins in airports is long and it will take some time before the airline gives the meals to its passengers.

On a long trip that could take hours by any mode of transportation, it is best from time to time to stretch or walk around to circulate the blood in the body. If you suffer from motion sickness while traveling, it is also advisable to take the proper medicine at least an hour before the trip for the medicine to take effect.

Water is important and if you are unsure of the tap water available, it is best to order bottled water from the establishment.

By taking these necessary precautions, you will be way ahead of most people in keeping yourself healthy (and safe!) throughout your trip!

My Miri Webpage

Hi! I just updated my website with a webpage about Miri Resort City. haha..
Ok, that's my hometown in Sarawak. Want to know more about it? Check out Miri City now!

Wednesday, January 11, 2006

Yesterday was a disappointing day. I have planned to go to Siloso and Palawan beach at Sentosa Island, and it was raining cats and dogs. I end up going to Holland Village at the Buena Vista and found nothing to be done.
What a waste.
But I seek my brother's help to get me some nice photo in Miri, so that I can introduce my hometown to my friends :)
Then, perhaps.. I can convince them why is Miri called as a Resort City.
I have planned to feature the Miri City Fan, the Esplanade, and also maybe some of the National Park's photo. That if my brother have the time to go there.
We'll see how everything goes.

Raining Again~

It's been raining whole night and day since Sunday morning.
This kind of weather really dampen my mood.
Sigh~ I hope it won't rain tomorrow though as I am planning to go Sentosa, cos I wanna update my site, which I plan to transform to something that talks about my travelling experience.
Of course, it's not really far yet. But, I guess I will be able to get out of this country soon. Hopefully.
Tomorrow is going to be Hari Raya Haji, and it's a public holiday.

Hopefully Lionel they all can join me, or else it's gonna be quite boring.
Read Jenny's blog about how she is trying to move on with life after breaking up with her 6.5 years of steady relationship. She's my churchmate..
Sigh..sometimes, life is very cruel.

Let's talk about Leos

Okay.
I don't know what kind of feedback I will receive but..
Oh well.. I guess it's ok.
Miss Jess asked me about Leo's.. So, here you go..
Leo is outgoing, optimstic and concern about their outer appearance,
it's not a surprise to see you have cool hairstyle, or dressing to impress.
You love the limelight. At school, Leo can either be the class clown or class bully.
Leo should find plenty of opportunities in performance, sales, and marketing.
Sports and special events are high visibilty careers where salesmanship and flair count.
You also can consider finding wealth by participating in careers or business that are related to
fitness, with the emphasis on wellrun clubs, personal attention, and social atmosphere.
As the population ages, there will be more emphasis on weight training and rehabilitation aimed at older bodies.
Leos are especially suited to the high energy demand of this field.
Diet specific restaurants, vegetarian restaurants, diet consultants and organic food farmers and gardeners should
be expanding.
We'll be especially concerned with the quality of our meat and seafood.
Leos have the skills in working with agriculture, diet counseling, cooking, restaurant management, organizing
farmers' markets, and managing health food stores.
Does that sound like you? :)

About Astrology

It's been a while since I made some any input to my blog.
This time, let's talk about Astrology?
I am an Aquarians and I own a book that explains about my daily astrology
It also explains in detail what kind of characteristic a person own, based on his or her starsign.
That makes me want to know in advance the person's starsign that proposed me with their business idea or plan.
So far, I don't think it's contradicting with my religion.
Most of the time, what said in the book really happened.
I remember one thing thru my bible reading.
It says that wise men in the ancient saw stars that tells them a saviour was born, which is Jesus Christ.
So, it strengthen my stance to explore more about Astrology.
If you're thinking for the long term, and want to be filthy rich, read properly...
Pluto, the planet of transformation, moves into Capricorn in 2008 for a long stay until 2024.
Jupiter, the planet of luck and expansion, also moves into Capricorn in 2008.
So, it means that wealth will be discovered in Capricorn ruled industries, and they will get through radical changes.
Capricorn influenced fields are known for function, structure, discipline and order. Want to get rich?
Start a business that have these qualities now.
Capricorn is a strongly practical sign that dislike waste of any kind. So, consider careers in recycling and waste management,
antiques, renovation, preserving old buildings, land conservation, and teaching history.
Well, as you have known, I am working in a general building maintenance industry, so, I am already stepping one leg into being a millionaire!
Why I choose environment-related career? There will be so much cleaning up of toxic wastes, rebuilding after natural disaster strikes and redesigning of equipment.
If you're an engineer, attorney designer, banker or researcher, you should slant your career search in this direction.
Taurus, Scorpio, Libra, Pisces and AQUARIUS could make their fortune here.

It was also said that Aquarians are natural in all areas of computer work. Sagittarius and Geminis are great in teaching and sales,
while Capricorns excel in organization. Pisces in creative software design, and Cancers in applying high tech to industry.
Hmm.. this seems like too long for now.
I'll talk again next time about astrology. I will talk more about Aquarius' relationship and what kind of characteristic Aquarians own.
